What is the long/short ratio?

How positions in a coin are split between longs and shorts — by the number of traders or by the money in them.

The long/short ratio shows which side the market leans to. Exchanges usually count accounts, where every small trader weighs the same as a large one.

A ratio weighted by money is more telling: it shows where the large capital is. When most money sits on one side, that side also carries the risk of a squeeze.
